We built it on native WordPress, integrating best-in-class tools rather than forcing everything into one: a heavily customised LearnDash for the learning management, Restrict Content Pro for membership and access, Stripe for recurring payments, and FluentCRM for automated communications — all wired together so an educator’s journey runs end to end without manual intervention.
Around the courses sat a set of custom databases for the project’s real-world data:
- Education services — over 17,000 mapped across Australia, effectively the entire sector.
- Surveys — completed at set intervals, with every response captured into structured records.
- Digital resources and platform training — supporting material, organised and easy to find.
Crucially, the platform was structured by jurisdiction — all eight Australian states and territories — so terminology, guidance and content reflected the real regional differences each educator works within, rather than a flattened national average.
And the member journey was automated end to end. A member registers, completes a custom self-assessment, works through their professional development in the custom learning management system, invites their colleagues, and pays a recurring membership through Stripe — each step flowing into the next automatically. Behind the scenes, a library of more than a dozen automated workflows handled enrolment, role-based course assignment, reminders, communications and SMS, so the platform largely ran itself. The finishing touch was the most satisfying: on completion, the platform generated each member’s certificate as a PDF and placed an order with a print-and-post fulfilment partner, so a personalised, printed certificate arrived in the post without anyone lifting a finger.
The research engine was the quiet achievement. Survey data gathered over time was combined and presented in the back end in a clear, structured way, so the institute’s researchers could see what was happening across the programme and understand its impact — all from the same platform that delivered the training.
